When i hear this song it always makes me sad because i think about layne and how hes dead, but anyways my interpretation of this song is about the first "sin" and how we cant change anything. Now im not gona bring religuous shit into this but i think eat of the apple so young would be a reference to the first sin, and ive written my own part means he ( anyone) cant change outcomes so basically the future is already written. Im crawlin back to start could mean that he would be trying to change his own outcome. Also the verses all tell of things such as innocence that we have lost. Now again this is just what i think it means

Unless you have ever woke up junk sick with your life falling apart around you, you will never understand this song. Sincerely regretting the bad choices you have made in life. Watching your best friends turn into hollow shells and fall around you. When you live through that you can understand this song. Or any other alice in chains song perhaps.
