alexthomasdavis – AnnaS lyrics

In a perfect world
Your act would be perfect
But life isn't like that
It's more like a circus
In a perfect world
Your hair would be perfect
But life isn't like that
It's more like a cactus

In a perfect world
The perfect world I gave to you

In a perfect world
Your art would be perfect
But life isn't like that
It's more like a canvas

In a perfect world
A swan would be perfect
But life isn't like that
It's more like a cygnet

This song is about a girl I used to know in Sunderland, then we met up again in Scotland. Although she spouted new age theories, veggie, world peace etc, everything had to be perfect with her all the time, which sort of went against her ethos. It was hard work sometimes just to get onside. However we did write to each other a lot and she did like my poems which is a good start, and she could draw, actually it seems now that shes alright ! haha. The song itself is one of my best and has an excellent hook in the middle, with the verses also having a haunting quality, exemplifying the high maintenanceness of the situation!
