One, two, three
Counting out the signs we see
The tall buildings
Fading in the distance
Only dots on a map
Four, five, six
The two of us a perfect fit
You're all mine, all mine
And all I can say
Is you blow me away
Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me
So softly
Rain against the windows
And the strong coffee
Warming up my fingers
In this fisherman's house
You got me
Searched the sand
And climbed the tree
And brought me back down
And all I can say
Is you blow me away
Like an apple on a tree
Hiding out behind the leaves
I was difficult to reach
But you picked me
Like a shell upon a beach
Just another pretty piece
I was difficult to see
But you picked me
Yeah you picked me
wow pmi, thank you captain obvious. i mean it must have been so hard to figure that stuff out, the fact that you just took the poetry out of the lyrics.
the first verse is referring to her and her partner travelling together and causes the listener to consider how two individuals could be designed for one another so well.
The chorus is the singer similarising herself to individual objects that collectively are ignored but have the abillity to be plucked from their group eg. the apple from many apples.
The next verse refers to "the fisherman's house" which, if taken literally, is the place in which the lovers are staying, warming their hands with mugs of coffee etc.
The imagery to this song is very poetic, and perhaps the most romantic concept is the idea of being normal and yet seen as special to another. Therefore the song is very appealing to us as humans who are constantly presented with the idea that being special or better than others is important in getting attention.
gorgeous!
